New MA Degree in Advanced Japanese StudiesStudy with one of Europe's largest and most prestigious centres for Asian Studies
This degree aims to provide you with high-level, practical Japanese language skills alongside a thorough awareness and understanding of the Japanese cultural context. It will equip you with the tools necessary to conduct research using primary and secondary materials in Japanese, and will help you prepare for a Japan-related research degree while developing transferable research skills. The training emphasises a proficient understanding of Japanese, a basic awareness of issues involved in translation between English and Japanese, a practical ability to write Japanese texts, and an ability to identify, select and critically analyse specialised Japanese texts relevant to your own area of research. Pre-requisite qualifications: A good first degree in any subject. You may still be favourably considered if you have other qualifications but additional Japan-related experience. You should have previously studied the Japanese language at an upper intermediate level and have reached an appropriate standard.
