Dr Angus Lockyer is Lecturer in Japanese History and Chair of the Japan Research Centre at SOAS and Senior Editor of Japan Forum.
He was born in Singapore, brought up in the UK and did his graduate work in the US. After teaching for four years in North Carolina, he returned to the UK in 2004. He is completing a book on Japan and exhibitions, from 1862-2005. Recent and forthcoming articles on this topic include 'Expo Fascism? Ideology, Representation, Economy', 'The Logic of Spectacle, circa 1970', and 'National Museums and Other Cultures in Modern Japan'. New research interests include the 1930s and the history of Japanese golf.
