DescriptionDr Ildiko Beller-Hann
Peasant Strategies and Social Support in Rurual Xinjiang
Ildikó Bellér-Hann studied Turkish, Archaeology and English at the Lórand Eötvös University in Budapest. In 1989 she received her PhD at the University of Cambridge for research into Turkic historical linguistics, and in 2005 she was awarded a habilitation degree at the Central Asia Seminar of the Humboldt University in Berlin for research into the Historical Anthropology of the Uyghur of Xinjiang, NW China. Between 1989 and 1991 she worked as Curator of the Skilliter Ottoman Research Centre, Newnham College, Cambridge. Between 1992 and 1998 she was a Research Fellow at the University of Kent, and between 1999 and 2009 she worked at the Orientwissenschaftliches Zentrum of the Martin Luther University in Halle, Germany. Since 2009 she has been working as Associate Professor at the Department of Cross-Cultural and Region Studies at University of Copenhagen. She has carried out extensive empirical research in Turkey, China and Kazakhstan. Venue
